Sports Building of the Bavarian Riot Police in Nuremberg
The new sports building comprises five sections: a gymnasium, a swimming pool, changing rooms, an entrance area, and shooting ranges. Due to the high groundwater level, a watertight, bonded concrete slab (bitumen seal) had to be installed for the entire building. The main load-bearing structure consists largely of laminated timber, while the secondary load-bearing systems (e.g., purlin grids) are made of squared timber.
