The former church in Litzelstetten, with its 114 seats, had long been too small. The original plan for a completely new church centre, including a church, rectory, kindergarten, and community rooms, on a new site was abandoned in favour of a more modest solution on the site of the former church. Since the tower and chancel are listed as historical monuments and could not be demolished, these structures would have required renovation anyway, without any viable use in sight. Furthermore, the preservation of Litzelstetten's character and its overall appearance within the landscape was a priority.
