House in Köln-Marienburg

The apartment building was erected on a north-south oriented plot in Marienburg. It was designed to preserve the character of the stately detached houses in its surroundings, while simultaneously accommodating multiple families. The neighboring buildings dictated a two-storey design on the street side. Given this constraint, a north-south oriented, sloping building with shed roofs was developed. It largely closes off the street side, but opens fully to the garden and park on the south side, allowing for an additional gallery level on each of the main floors.
