The group of buildings is located on the edge of Münster's city centre, within the continuous development of Aegidistraße, characterized by its gabled and eaves-fronted houses, almost all clad in hard-fired bricks. This new group of buildings had to be aligned with the heights and general proportions of these existing structures. The plot – a gap left by wartime destruction – had remained undeveloped until then, as initially no sufficiently economical solution presented itself for the internal access, the limitation to three standard stories, and the requirement for a gable-fronted building design.
