The holiday village of Klitterbyn (meaning something like "dune village") was built on a sparsely wooded area with pine and birch trees in the dune hinterland of one of Sweden's most beautiful bays in Skåne. This landscape was to remain largely untouched; the houses, built entirely in the local architectural tradition and village structure, blend into the area in a loose, open style.
