Residential and Commercial Building in Munich-Schwabing

The misunderstood, unimaginative application of traditional forms in modern architecture satirizes the notion of a "return to history." The certainty of working with the main elements of architecture manifests itself as a simple repetition of basic forms when they are interpreted with great empathy from a contemporary historical context. Here at Feilitzstraße 24-26 in Schwabing, where until 1974 the "Heuboden" (Hayloft), a popular meeting place for artists and intellectuals from Schwabing's village past, stood, an inner-city residential and commercial building was to be designed.
