The toll station is located on the Roßfeldstraße, a road leading up to an altitude of 1600 metres near Berchtesgaden. The facility consists of two buildings: the main building with a covered checkpoint for passing vehicles, adjoining staff rooms, and a shelter for a snowplow; and the annex with two-room and one-room staff accommodation. The Roßfeldstraße is characterized by its well-designed natural stone retaining walls, which were built in the 1930s. The integration of these existing architectural features served as the guiding principle for the design and construction of the toll station, which was built using the simplest of means.
