Medical Children's Home in Oostvoorne/Netherlands

In designing this children's home, the concept of large dormitories, dining halls, playrooms, and long corridors was abandoned in favour of a more family-like living environment in small, home-like groups. This was intended to ease the separation from their families for the children, who typically stay for 6-12 months for therapeutic treatment (due to medical conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, stomach problems, etc.). Each group consists of nine children aged 5-15 and a group leader; each group is assigned its own house.
