Holiday Home Program as a Modular and Panel Construction System in Wood
The Ålhytta system emerged from an architectural competition aimed at developing improved cabin designs for the Hallingdal mountain region in Norway. The present building system is a further development of the competition design that won second prize and was realized in five cabins using prefabricated construction methods. The modifications primarily aimed to minimize construction time in the mountains through extensive prefabrication of elements, ensuring that no element was heavier than two people could handle.
