Residential Area in Alkmaar/Holland
The new "Huiswaard 11" quarter is a section of Alkmaar-Nord. It comprises 241 single-family homes and 107 apartment buildings in two separate areas. Alkmaar-Nord as a whole includes approximately 1,700 apartments, as well as a shopping centre, a market, commercial spaces, and a school. A dedicated train station is planned on the railway line running directly past the quarter, near which the single-family home section is located. The integration of the waterway, which encircles the single-family home area (primarily intended for older residents), significantly influences the location, urban planning concept, and character of the entire area. The apartment buildings are situated to the northeast, between this area and the shopping centre located outside of it (see the inset site plan). They enclose an open square with parking.
