Urban District in Dordrecht

An experimental housing complex, this is the third of the large-scale housing developments built in Dordrecht after the war. It comprises 405 residential units on a north-south oriented block with a 54 x 54 m street grid and a central green space. Of these, 279 are single-family homes and 126 are so-called mid-rise apartment buildings. The single-family homes are divided into three basic types: houses with a symmetrical pitched roof parallel to the street (with living room, kitchen, and 3-4 bedrooms); houses with a gable end facing the street (with living room, kitchen, and 2-3 bedrooms); and houses with an asymmetrical pitched roof parallel to the street (with living room, kitchen, and 1 bedroom).
