Residential Area in Zwolle/Holland
This new neighbourhood on the outskirts of Zwolle was based on a similar concept to the new "Meerzicht" residential area in Zoetermeer: staggered, three-storey groups of houses with four different apartment types enclose semi-open courtyards. The houses and groups of houses—mostly with flat roofs, others with hipped roofs—are arranged and coordinated in such a way as to create optimal conditions for a vibrant sense of community. The complex as a whole, which is also referred to as a "garden district" due to its green spaces, never appears schematic or monotonous, even though the same building forms and structural elements recur in lively succession. Each of the 154 apartments thus possesses a distinct identity based on its location and layout within the building.
