Primary School in Lemgo

The three-stream primary school III Lemgo-Laubke in the Palmsiek district was built as a two-storey, flat-roofed structure on a gently sloping, north-facing site. Following the model of Danish "open-plan" schools, a school with a homely, family-like atmosphere was designed – in collaboration with the teachers – with classroom units conceived as "small apartments," each with its own cloakroom, bathroom, and directly connected playground. This school concept was also the deciding factor in choosing wood as a "warm" building material.
