The Upper Secondary School for Commerce (client: State of Berlin) comprises the following educational facilities under one roof: upper secondary school, vocational school, vocational college, and vocational training courses. The school was designed for 1,860 students. It offers 15,331 square metres of space for teaching, leisure activities, and administration. The site is located on the grounds of the former barracks between Wrangelstraße/Zeughofstraße/Käpenickerstraße and Skalitzerstraße (site area approximately 51,660 square metres). It is largely shielded from Skalitzerstraße by existing residential buildings, which were preserved. In accordance with the jury's recommendation, the main building of the barracks of the "3rd Foot Guards Regiment," built between 1875 and 1878 on Wrangelstraße (in the "Silesian Gate Quarter"), was retained as a valuable piece of urban architecture.
