The Kauniainen Town Hall is the first phase of a planned administrative and cultural centre being built in the immediate vicinity of the town centre. The urban environment is characterized by buildings of widely varying heights, forms, and construction methods. A key planning objective was to integrate the building complex into this diverse urban landscape while simultaneously ensuring that, despite its relatively small size, it would be a dominant feature in the urban fabric, reflecting its functional purpose. The two-storey administrative building is arranged at an angle around an entrance courtyard. The roof levels vary slightly in height; for example, the entrance on the north side is flanked by the tower-like library wing. The building's form is rhythmically punctuated by the contrast between white brick walls and dark-impregnated wooden parapet cladding.
