The original competition design for the church community centre, which won the BOA Prize in 1979, envisioned a more diverse range of spaces for the park-like grounds, interspersed with mature trees, than what was ultimately realized. According to the original plan, a "House of the Church" with a chapel, community and youth rooms, a parsonage and sexton's apartment, and a church district meeting centre with additional apartments were to be grouped around a centrally located, plaza-like pedestrian area. The community centre and the meeting centre were conceived as independently managed parts of a larger complex.
