Hötteweg serves as a link in the inner-city pedestrian zone between Ägidimarkt and the train station. The renovation of the municipal savings bank freed up part of the former banking hall facing Hötteweg, making it suitable for retail space. The existing skylights, the building's considerable depth, and the 1.80-metre difference in elevation to Hötteweg all influenced the design. The result is a three-level atrium with staircases and ramps. The facade of the existing building was opened up and reduced by a series of columns, providing access to the open space in front of the shops.
