In this international school, up to 450 pupils from all over the world undergo full-time education from primary school to university entrance level. The language of teaching is English. The new pentagonal structure has been fitted into the Bergstrasse school village, which dates from the 1950s. Here, various educational types are assembled in the manner of the American community school. The new building comprises an exposed-concrete plinth storey pushed into the slope of the site, with a two-storey classroom tract on top. The latter is glazed on all sides. The outer faces of the school – up to 40 metres long – are articulated by vertical aluminium louvres in the different colours of the Olympic rings, the effect of which varies according to one’s position.
