The medical faculty is a campus made up of several buildings. About ten years ago a restructuring project was initiated. The striking high-rise designed by OD 205 of Delft and completed in 1972 was originally fronted by a triangular plaza that linked the different buildings. Each of these originally had its own instruction rooms and library. Now all of the faculty infrastructure has been brought together in one building, and the square has become a central hall – the heart of the campus – covered by a glass roof. To achieve this, the existing buildings were stripped down to carcasses, and the floor plans were reorganised. The exterior stairs of the former entrance building were transformed to interior stairs and now lead directly to the renovated auditoria. A gallery on the second storey links all four sides of the building. Large glass partition walls along the classrooms allow light to reach the ground floor.
