Spa and Sports Centre in Häusern
The spa and sports centre was built on a gently sloping west-facing hillside, adjacent to the town hall and school. The design of this multi-purpose building took special account of the landscape of this health resort in the Black Forest. Its design and the use of locally sourced building materials were intended to blend harmoniously into the townscape and the surrounding hills. The imposing roof structure and individual details (hipped roof, gables, snow guard beams) represent a continuation of the local building tradition into a formally and structurally clear, and functionally organized, contemporary building design. Spatial layout: The program includes a multi-purpose hall with a gymnasium (playing field 15 x 27 m) and ancillary rooms (changing rooms, showers and washrooms, classroom, equipment and storage rooms), as well as, in keeping with its multi-purpose use, a spacious stage (10 x 15 m), a kitchen, a two-storey foyer with vestibule, cloakroom and ticket office, two multi-purpose rooms, a reading room (80 sq m) with an adjoining terrace, separate restrooms and a two-lane bowling alley.
