Facade of the HEAG Headquarters in Darmstadt

The project involved constructing an office building with a total volume of approximately 50,000 m³. Consideration had to be given to an existing high-rise building immediately adjacent to the building, a new urban planning concept, and expansion possibilities. The requirement for individual office partitions (5.40 m room depth) on the office floors was met with a structural grid of 7.20 x 7.20 m, as were the spatial requirements for larger special-purpose rooms: a conference room, a customer service area, and a dining room. The building structure consists of a concrete core, columns, beams, and ceilings; the core houses elevators, the stairwell, restrooms, and service shafts. The interior fit-out grid of 1.20 m is offset by 0.60 m from the structural system. The thermally insulated aluminium facade is a suspended cladding system. The roof is constructed using a warm roof system; the roof slopes are covered with aluminium panels.
