Detached House in Bad Driburg

Situation and Design Objective: The attractively situated, steeply sloping plot of land on the outskirts of town, at the end of a cul-de-sac, borders a nature reserve in an open setting. Two factors determined the design of the house: it should blend harmoniously into the landscape and adapt to the steep slope on all levels. Floor Plan and Level Arrangement: The slope "runs" through the entire house. The levels, which follow the contours of the terrain, are designed as small building sections with adjoining terraces, each dedicated to a specific living function. These building sections are closely integrated with the terraced terrain. On the entrance level (upper ground floor) are the entrance area, kitchen, and adjacent dining area, which juts out over the living area like a pulpit and—like the fireplace room below—projects as a distinct "glass volume" within the overall building.
