The building features a two-storey gallery, its four wings staggered like a pinwheel. The longer, wider main wings run north-south, while the shorter, narrower transverse wings run east-west. This arrangement creates four retail bays. The ends of the transverse wings open onto covered entrance plazas, and the longitudinal wings lead into two department stores. In its exterior appearance, this shopping centre is reminiscent of 19th-century arcades and market halls. The delicate glass architecture continues inside, although the cast-iron columns are replaced by welded steel supports, and the riveted roof trusses by hollow-section trusses. Continuous, ribbon-like glass panels along the arcades and in the centre make the roof appear to float, thus emphasizing the delicate structure of the steel frame.
