Situation: The building site for the complex, a former gravel pit, is conveniently located near the town centre with its schools, sports facilities, and shops. This ensured seamless integration with the surrounding neighbourhood from the outset. The bowl-shaped terrain was utilized to its advantage: The surrounding embankments of the excavated depression, together with a 13-metre-high steep slope rising behind them, create a green backdrop and simultaneously provide noise protection for the residents. At the same time, the children's village is integrated into its urban surroundings in such a way that the residents use it as a thoroughfare and participate in its car-free squares and paths, as well as its green spaces and playgrounds.
