Municipal Swimming Pool in Greve/Denmark

This swimming pool south of Copenhagen is part of a larger "beach city" complex. It serves both the local community and hosts sporting events. The implemented design corresponds to the winning entry in the 1976 competition. Concept: The building was designed as a large climate-control canopy; beneath it, the various activities are housed as independent units. Above is the truncated cone-shaped roof with its large skylight, the "Lyra," whose centre lies above the third-to-thirds cross-section of the longitudinal section. This allowed for a high roof ridge on the west side, high enough for the diving platforms. The stands are arranged like brick furniture, while everything else consists of lightweight elements. The glass-roofed restaurant rests on a concrete slab-and-column structure.
