Group of Houses on the Market Square in Lemgo
Between two corner buildings that were to be preserved, four old buildings deemed not worth preserving were demolished and replaced with new ones. The solution developed for this project was awarded first prize in a competition (and also received the Deubau Prize in 1977). The starting point for the proposed plan was a study by Professor Deilmann on the renovation and renewal of the city centre, as well as its development up to around the year 2000. The plan took as its starting point the historically developed cityscape, which was to be densified and streamlined in its substance, also through the development of a traffic reorganization to serve this purpose.
