For the construction of the new Hilden town hall, an old factory site located in the city centre next to the city park was acquired. The project was conceived as an urban renewal project, with the hall serving as a link between the city park and the centre. The program called for a building with multi-purpose functions. A system of hydraulically movable walls, seating, orchestra platforms, and stage halves allows for versatile transformation and repurposing of the multi-purpose hall, e.g. For example: a large ballroom of 1800 sq m for approximately 1200 guests (by lowering the partition between the auditorium and foyer and raising the five tiers of seating as well as the orchestra platform and stage), a ballroom for 900 guests (by raising the partition), an auditorium for 730 people (with the foyer separated and the orchestra platform raised), an auditorium for 700 people (with the foyer separated but the orchestra pit lowered), and a tiered theatre arena (by lowering the five tiers of seating). In addition to the multi-purpose hall, there is a small studio for 80 to 100 people available for theatre rehearsals, receptions, and other events.
