The departments of structural engineering, civil engineering, building services engineering, surveying, and mapping were to be consolidated and assigned to a cafeteria (designed for 3,000 meals) serving the entire complex. The building completes the group of buildings comprising the former Gauß and Beuth engineering academies and the Beuth extension, forming the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. A final construction phase, including a library, audiovisual centre, and computer centre, will complete the entire complex. The entire centre is laid out linearly along a northwest pedestrian axis (Leopoldplatz – Wedding Town Hall – Zeppelinplatz – Virchow Hospital). Its entrance forum is located at the intersection of this axis with a north-south axis (providing access to student dormitories, playgrounds, a parking garage, and Zeppelinplatz).
