Kindergarten of the Catholic Church Foundation in Heideck near Munich

The Heideck kindergarten was specifically designed as an alternative to kindergartens built using prefabricated systems; it has since served as a prototype for a number of other kindergarten projects. With costs that, on average, should not exceed those of prefabricated buildings of this category, a far more diverse and differentiated range of spaces was to be created. Two L-shaped wings—one containing group and activity rooms, the other sanitary and staff rooms—surround the central hall with its seating and play pit; this hall serves as both a circulation and play area.
