The KfW banking group is deemed Germany’s most important financier and funding provider for company start-ups, infrastructural and environmental projects. In 2002, the KfW began to renovate and extend its head office northwest of Frankfurt's city centre. So far, the KfW's "Westarkade" with its roughly 700 office workspaces and additional conference rooms is the highlight of KfW’s energy efficiency strategy. With primary energy usage remaining below 100kWh per square metre per annum, the Westarkade sets new energy standards for high-rise office buildings.
