In a new residential area just outside Weißenburg, Bavaria, well-preserved foundations of a Roman bath complex were unearthed during earthworks for a row of terraced houses. While it had long been known that a Roman bath must have existed in this area, the city planners apparently hadn't anticipated such significant finds when designating the residential area. The wooden roof depicted here was the result of a design competition.
