Large Laundries in Bedburg-Hau and Viersen
This image depicts the hall section with its steel frame of two identically designed laundries in Bedburg-Hau and Suchteln. The adjoining two-storey section is largely of conventional construction. For the hall, measuring approximately 34 x 60 m, a lightweight, column-free structure with good natural light from skylights was required. Alternatives in reinforced concrete and wood, with and without a central column, were investigated. Cost-effectiveness, flexibility in space utilization, and low maintenance costs were further important requirements.
