Gallery Roof of a Shopping Centre in Saarlouis
The "Kleiner Markt" shopping centre comprises the historic building of a former (listed) barracks and a new building wing. A shopping arcade, covered by a steel and glass structure, was inserted between the two, serving as a connecting element. This central section appears very slender and transparent. The structure consists of I-beams and is covered with tinted wired mirror glass. The open roof does not require air conditioning. The entrance gable wall with its canopy is also constructed of steel and glass.
