Roofing System for the Danish State Railways: Farum/Copenhagen Train Station

Planning concept: The planning group appointed and operating under the direction of the Danish State Railways (DSB) was tasked with developing a comprehensive architectural solution for eight stations of the Hareskov Railway (part of the Copenhagen light rail network), which was electrified in 1977. The goal was to rationalize the design and create a uniform appearance for the stations, and the solution was also intended to be applicable to other planned railway stations. The roof structure of the Forum station, discussed here, thus serves as a prototype for future stations. A key aspect of the construction system developed for this purpose was the demountability, reusability, and interchangeability of all elements.
