Harderwijk is one of the numerous port towns around the IJsselmeer, with a distinctive historical townscape. The town centre is under strict historic preservation regulations, to which all new construction projects must adhere. This applies particularly to building heights and structures, as well as the choice of materials, insofar as they harmonize with the surrounding landscape. Accordingly, the historic preservation authorities required a building concept for this project that, among other things, is based on the historically typical roof form and whose proportions blend in with the overall urban character of the surrounding area, as well as its brick construction.
