Barn House, Sea Ranch/California
Prototype of a two-storey house, of which 14 now stand in Sea Ranch. The building's form as a simple gable house with a pitched roof was inspired by the traditional barns of the area. Since there was no single client, but rather an anonymous group of buyers, this basic building form was deliberately chosen. The "barn house" can be seen as a symbol for "house" and is generally recognized as such.
