Holiday Home in Japan

The southern gable end is entirely glazed and, when the house is unoccupied, can be completely enclosed by a triangular shutter that precisely matches the shape and size of the gable. This shutter consists of a frame construction with an integrated slatted floor and, when folded down and resting on individual foundations, serves as a terrace. It is connected to the front beam of the floor joist by large hinges and can be raised with a winch. The ground floor level contains the living area with a dining area, kitchen, and bathrooms. Halfway up, there is a mezzanine with four sleeping spaces, accessible via a ladder-like staircase.
