House and Studio in Hamburg

This interior designer's house is located in the northern, geest-covered part of the city, on a steep eastern slope near the upper reaches of the Alster River. The property originally featured beautiful mature trees and spring-fed ponds. Because the trees heavily shaded the slope itself, the house was built on the highest, sunniest part of the property. Following the slope's incline, the building has two levels. The main living level is accessible at ground level from the road above the property. The lower level houses the designer's studio and a guest apartment.
