The starting point for the development of the T.E.S.T. building system was the idea that the industrialization of building components need not go hand in hand with monotony and the restriction of individual design. Using parts already available in mass production eliminates the need to create new production facilities or to restrict manufacturers to specific specialized components. The emphasis, therefore, lies in combining existing parts; this allows for great diversity in design and repeatability in component production.
