Entrance Pavilion of the Hamburg State Bank

Among 23 entries submitted for the 1974 German Steel Construction Prize, the pavilion of the Hamburgische Landesbank on Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz in Hamburg, a steel structure of modest dimensions, was selected for the award. The pavilion was built to serve as a Hamburg information centre and for exhibitions. The chosen steel structure was praised for its successful integration of exterior appearance, function, construction, and form. The building, situated on the spacious square, acts as a link between the urban environment and the interior spaces.
