The horseshoe shape, frequently found in Franconia and the Upper Palatinate, was chosen for the new agricultural building of the Lauterhofen institution for people with disabilities. The farm is a mixed operation (breeding and fattening cattle, pigs, and chickens). The building complex was designed to accommodate these uses. Around a square courtyard, the cattle barn is arranged to the west, the pigsty with grain drying facility and chicken coop to the south, the staff residence to the east, and the carriage house to the north. The entire building complex is enclosed on the side facing the surrounding open countryside.
