The new administrative building of an insurance company is situated on an open area in the centre of Gothenburg that is used as a sports field, football pitch, park, and central bus station. The urban landscape in this area is characterized by tree-lined streets with older, four- to five-storey residential buildings (now mostly offices) and low-rise pavilion-style buildings adjacent to the park. The architectural challenge was to accentuate this relatively open space in an urbanistically coherent way and to give the building a form that is significant even from a distance, while still adapting to and integrating well with the surroundings in terms of building height, the articulation of the building masses and wall surfaces, and the choice of building materials.
