Main Administrative Building of the Essen Municipal Savings Bank
The 5,271 sq m site is fully utilized by the building, which measures 125 m long and 46 m wide across its first five floors. The large floor areas resulted from the requirement to locate the ticket hall on a single level and the offices in contiguous open-plan spaces. Due to building regulations, the upper four floors and the roof structure (a total of ten floors above ground) were staggered, resulting in a division of the building mass according to its functions and differentiated spatial programs.
