The new post office serves as the central hub for postal services in the city and numerous surrounding communities. The corner location of the site and its spatial relationship to the neighboring employment office were key factors in the planning. This resulted in a building complex that staggers from east to west, consisting of an L-shaped, two-storey low-rise building bisected by a six-storey administrative wing running north-south. To clearly mark the main entrance to the service hall within the streetscape, the low-rise section was set back as far as possible from the street line, creating a plaza-like widening of the sidewalk area.
