Extension Building of the Rowohlt Publishing House in Reinbeck

The new building is an extension of the publishing house, adding approximately 1,000 square metres of office space in the first construction phase. There is the option to expand this space by an additional 500 square metres by adding a third floor. The building's location was determined by the existing publishing and residential buildings to which it is connected. The new building was designed to form an architectural unit with the existing publishing buildings, but above all, to blend seamlessly into the park-like grounds. By raising the building's elevation, the natural topography remained uninterrupted (to fully reappear in the atrium). The building cantilevers over a pond that serves as a natural rainwater collection basin.
