Study Centre of a Research Foundation in Bad Homburg

The Werner Reimers Foundation's study centre for anthropogenetic research in Bad Homburg is situated in a botanically significant park, partly characterized by East Asian plantings, directly adjacent to the founder's villa, built in 1948. The design had to consider a possible future expansion of the complex, its harmonious integration into the park landscape (which should suffer as little loss as possible), and the organic integration of the villa into the overall grounds. With all these requirements in mind, the decision was made to use an easy-to-assemble, flexible, prefabricated aluminium construction system, the Alco Trelement system. The specific design challenge arising from the steep slope was overcome by terracing this system, a technique used here for the first time.
