Single-family House Made of Prefabricated Wooden Elements in Oppenau/Black Forest

The building, situated on a steep slope at the edge of the forest, features a recessed basement. This eliminated the need for a concrete basement (with its associated coordination difficulties and significant additional costs). The wooden columns were placed on individual concrete foundations. To prevent splashing, the basement floor was raised 52 cm above ground level. From the spacious entrance hall on the upper floor, one can see across the terrace to the Black Forest mountains; the hall separates the living and sleeping areas. Glass partitions on the terrace offer a view into the apartment on the upper floor. The basement contains a smaller apartment/guest room, utility rooms, and an outdoor swimming pool. These rooms are also accessible via an external walkway and a staircase.
