House in Oberrheinebene

The house is situated on a slope in the Rhine plain south of Karlsruhe, offering expansive views across the meadows and woodlands of the low-lying riverbank. This location, along with the rural surroundings, significantly influences the character and architectural layout of the house. The building program consists of two parallel sections of equal length, the main house and an annex, connected by two contrasting roof prisms. The continuous beam structure above the entrance and courtyard emphasizes the overall architectural concept. The interplay of open, glazed, and closed building elements creates highly differentiated spatial effects, both internally and externally, which are particularly enhanced on the ground floor by the exposed timber roof structure.
