Exterior Wall Construction of the Administrative Centre of the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg

The centerpiece of the building complex is a star-shaped high-rise with three wings, currently the tallest building in Nuremberg at 78 metres. Exterior wall construction: The exterior cladding of the building, constructed using cast-in-place concrete with steel columns and precast reinforced concrete elements, is a suspended, thermally insulated aluminium facade (Kalinna). The parapet bands consist of natural-coloured, 6 cm thick, 410 x 70 cm aluminium panels, each composed of two trough-shaped sheet metal shells (each 1.5 mm thick with a polyurethane insulating core). These panels—two per floor, spaced 20 cm apart—are attached to movable brackets in every third facade bay (approximately 410 cm) and to intermediate brackets at 1,375 mm intervals on the element cantilever arms.
