Administrative Building in Saint-Denis / Paris

Steel suspended structure with a reinforced concrete core. The floor slabs are suspended from tie rods on one side and supported on the building core on the other. Diagonal, visible tie rods above the top floor slab transfer the forces from the vertical tie rods into a steel ring beam, which rests on the projecting reinforced concrete core and balances the horizontal forces resulting from varying live loads. Wind forces are transferred via the rigid floor slabs to the reinforced concrete core. A simple temporary wind bracing system is used on the standard floors, while a special wind bracing system is used at the level of the flat roof.
